Ancient Greeks

In Davis' article, "Normality, Power and Culture, it explains how the Greek Gods created humans in their own perfect vison and all other that would deviate from the norm, were considered to be unacceptable or unfit for society.

The Ancient Greeks once thought that Epilepsy was a “sacred” disease because it was sent from their  Gods as a form of punishment for their wrongdoings.  Or a curse from the goddess Selene. The Greeks believed if the afflicted would stay overnight in her temple, the goddess would come forth in dreams instructing them on how to cure the disease. We have to take into consideration that in these times, Greeks Belieed that these gods controlled and mandated all aspects of Human existence on Earth, including their wellbeing.

Back in 400 B.C.E , the afflicted sought treatment or cure from this disease throughout purification and incantation. Seeking treatment at their local temple instead of going to a physician’s shop.
